My Current Healthy Eating Favorites

Let’s talk Nutrition! Now I am in noway a certified nutritionist, so contact a nutritionist or doctor before making drastic changes to your diet. Also, remember that some Diest may be good for one person and bad for another because every body reacts to food differently. My best friend is in school to become a nutritionist, and she would kill me if I didn’t preface that. Haha.

However, I will share some of my favorite healthy foods with you that have really helped me cut calories where I can while still getting proper nutrition. This post will talk about some healthy alternatives and yummy foods that you’re sure to love if you add to your food regimen.

Egg Whites – Great low calorie protein option and great for cooking.

Kevita- AMAZING. My favorite flavor by far! Try this one first before any of the others. Trust me. And don’t start with Mint Mojito. Just don’t. This is a Kombucha drink and its great to help with digestion!

Can get all of this at Publix or most every grocery store.( Some may not have Kevita.)

My favorite protein powder at the moment. It’s plant based so it won’t upset your stomach like whey protein can. It’s also the key ingredient to healthy protein pancakes!

I get the bases of the recipe on Tone It Up’s website.

To have plenty for grab and go snacks during the week (especially pre-workout) I up the recipe amounts listed.

  • 1 scoop Tone It Up Protein
  • 1/2 banana, mashed
  • 1/4 cup egg whites (or 1 Tbsp. ground flax mixed with 3 Tbsp. warm water for vegan version)
  • 1/2 Tbs. almond milk
  • tsp. cinnamon

STEP 1: Mash banana with almond milk before stirring in remaining ingredients. If you’re using a flax egg instead of egg whites, allow the ground flax seeds and water to sit for 1-2 minutes before you add it into the mixture.

STEP 2: Spray pan with cooking spray and heat over medium-low before pouring in batter. Flip when ready 😉 The key to the perfect protein pancake is to cook them slow and low!

Veggies:

Veggies are a must and they can taste good too!

Favorites:

Brussel Sprouts

Green Beans

Spinach

Kale

The secret to enjoying Kale!

I love easy salads for the week and kale is the secret to preparing salads WITH the DRESSING on prior to the moment your eating it. Kale leaves have a natural waxy coating that is great for protecting them from rain. Unfortunately, it also protects them from salad dressing, which is why the best way to enjoy kale is to pour the dressing on days in advance and let it absorb it. Or, massage it with olive oil before the dressing to enjoy it within minutes.

I ge this at Publix but Im sure they carry it elsewhere!
